About the Author

Robert Thomas is a writer and analyst specialising in the politics of the Balkans. In recent years he has worked in, and written about, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Bosnia-Hercegovina, where he served as an election monitor for the OSCE in 1988.
